Heartland returns to High River with $80K donation
The cast and crew of CBC Television's Heartland has returned to film in High River, bringing a cheque worth $80,000 to help the Alberta town recover from June floods.
The donation was raised through behind-the-scenes tours offered to the show's fans this summer.
While the show takes place in the fictitious town of Hudson, it's actually filmed in High River. Maggie's Diner, a centrepiece on the show, was destroyed in the flooding. But after months of repairs, the diner is open again.
Heartland filming to resume at High River centrepiece
"Hudson is our home and high river has been very, very good to us over the years and so we felt it was crucial that we give back," said executive producer Tom Cox.
The money will go to a central fund, with a committee deciding how it is spent.
Mayor Craig Snodgrass said having the cast and crew return to High River is "huge" for the town.
"Just makes High River start to feel that little bit more normal again cause this is a regular occurrence that we always had downtown."

Something You Should Know
Michelle Morgan was indeed pregnant during the filming of the first few episodes, and she recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. There's another two photographs below of her and the baby, taken by a member of Heartland's crack 'B' Camera team, Schane Godon. Say hello to Michelle and Derek's new family addition, Noah Santiago!

Gabriel Hogan in Christmas Song
Though two schools have recently merged into one, students at the newly formed Carter-Cresswell Academy have yet to blend into one harmonious body. Particularly for the award-winning choral groups of the two former schools, old rivalries die hard. Music teachers Diana Deason (Natasha Henstridge) and Ken Stoddard (Gabe Hogan) are forced to compete for a single music department position by entering dueling musical acts in a televised Christmas song competition.
The success of either group will determine the fate of the music department and will determine who will get the job as the school’s only music director. As the musical teams duke out their differences at the competition and in the school halls, sparks begin to fly between Diana and Ken--romantic and otherwise. Confused by these sentiments, Diana is forced to reevaluate her priorities and choose what is really worth fighting for.

Heartland episode this Sunday
Vinessa Antoine returns as Nicole, who many of you will recognize as one of Lou's friends from New York. Nicole returns to visit, and it turns out her arrival is most timely.
Mallory is still a little miffed at Lou for not allowing her to manage Maggie's, and she decides to show Lou what she is capable of. As usual, Jake is there to offer some sage advice.
Jack is starting to realize those sheep he so dislikes could indeed be worth something, but they certainly get in the way of Amy's efforts to wean a foal away from its mother. Wait until you see the foal! I had to buy a new cute meter because the glass broke on my old one when the foal first appeared. :D
Georgie is starting to feel more like a part of the family, yet it's her younger sister Katie who is responsible for this Sunday's episode's title, when she does something at Maggie's that no one could have seen coming.

1/2 t. salt
1/2 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/3 c. butter, melted
3 bananas
3/4 c. sugar
1 lg egg
Topping
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
4 T. flour (all-purpose)
1/8 t. ground nutmeg
1/4 t. ground cinnamon
1/2 c. granola (I use Harvest Crunch, but any granola mixture is nice)
1/4 c chopped walnuts
4 T. butter (room temp)
Garnish
1/2 banana, cut into 12 slices (eat the other half!)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 12-cup muffin tray.
Batter: In a mixing bowl, sift together 1 1/2 cups flour, oatmeal, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
In a food processor, pulse bananas, sugar, egg, and melted butter.
Fold the banana mixture into the flour mixture and stir well. Let stand for 5-10 minutes.
Topping: in a second bowl, mix together all dry ingredients, then cut in the 4 tablespoons of butter until mixture gets all crumbly.
Spoon batter into prepared muffin tray. Liberally sprinkle topping over muffins.
Top each muffin with a banana slice
Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of a muffin comes out clean.
Eat!
